Doula services

Congratulations on discovering your new earthling. You’re here because you’ve decided that you want to resource yourself to have the best birth and postpartum experience you can, and I am honoured to be even a tiny part of that journey.

From conception to birth, babies are experiencing the world through you and your nervous systems are inextricably linked. While that sounds scary, it is also a beautiful and incredible thing. You are holding the space for yourself and this new, forming life and here you are, researching how to best support you both. You’re a rockstar!

The unfortunate reality is that less than 45% of women are getting to the point where they start labour spontaneously, nearly 1 in every 2 women have a caesarean section and the rate of families traumatised by birth has skyrocketed in the last decade. All you need to do is google birth, or labour or something similar to find horror stories, or the medias representation of birth being painful or traumatic – but that all we should think about is a healthy baby. Absolutely not! You and your baby are a team, and both of you deserve to feel nurtured and nourished.

With maternity services stretched, , having a doula isn’t a luxury – it’s essential. It can mean the difference between feeling like you’ve been supported and birthed in your power – regardless of the type of birth you have, versus feeling like everything has spun out of control and you need to pick up the pieces of yourself while also caring for your beautiful baby.

As your doula, I’m here to support you in making informed choices throughout your pregnancy, birth, and beyond. This means, from the moment you contact me, whether or not we end up working together, I am cheering you on in your corner. My goal is to provide you with continuous emotional, physical, and informational support, resourcing you to connect with your own innate wisdom and ensuring you feel empowered and confident in your journey.

I believe that every woman deserves to have a birth experience that reflects her values and wishes. Whether that’s an elective cesarean birth or a quiet, undisturbed freebirth, as long as the choices you make are for you, I’m here. Together, we’ll explore your options, create a birth and postpartum plan that feels right for you, and navigate these new exciting waters. I’ll be by your side, and also a wallflower, offering the reassurance and holding space, but ultimately supporting you to make the best decisions for you and your baby.

Before I get to prices, did you know that research has shown that continuous support from a doula during labor can lead to better birth outcomes? Here are some stats – women who receive doula support are:

  • 28% less likely to have a Caesarean section.
  • 31% less likely to use synthetic oxytocin (Pitocin) to speed up labor.
  • 60% less likely to have an epidural
  • 34% less likely to rate their childbirth experience negatively.

I also offer smaller, online support bundles from a single birth or postpartum planning session, to ongoing Voxer support (bookable as a day, week or more) where you have a wealth of resources (me!) at your fingertips or in your pocket, so whether you want to chat through plans, get informed or want some reassurance, this is an accessible, lower cost package to consider.

Research has shown that continuous support from a doula during labor can lead to better birth outcomes. For example, women who receive doula support are:

  • 28% less likely to have a Caesarean section.
  • 31% less likely to use synthetic oxytocin (Pitocin) to speed up labor.
  • 9% less likely to use any pain medication.
  • 34% less likely to rate their childbirth experience negatively.

With the epidemic of birth trauma and the increasing number of families choosing to move away from the system due to fear, hiring a doula can be the bridge between fighting the system and feeling like its a lost battle, and feeling informed, resourced and supported enough to advocate for yourself.

Whatever you decide, or if you’d just like some more info, get in touch and we can chat.
